Shane Speal uses his cover of Hendrix's "I Don't Live Today" as a catalyst for teaching basic licks in 3-string Open C tuning (CGC).  To play this lesson, you'll need the following setup:

  • Three string, fretted cigar box guitar
  • Strung with DGB strings from a pack of normal guitar strings
  • Tuned to CGC

Pro Tip:  These licks can be played on Open G cigar box guitars.  They will just be transposed to the key of G.

The song comes from Speal's upcoming release, These Frustrating Blues.  The lesson is part of his crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.
