I thought I'd start a place where we could post about any CBG or blues related events here in the UK. To let each other know of anything coming up or just tell us about something you've seen that we might be interested in. Any regular clubs, odd gigs, tv programs ow whatever.

I'm going to start it off and tell you about a gig I'm going to tomorrow right here in my little residential town in Yorkshire. Too late to book now but if you like blues you might find this band appearing somewhere near you. It'll be the 4th time they've appeared here and they are great. They are the Blues Band. Frontman from the original Manfred Mann band and radio 2 blues program presenter Paul Jones is still belting out some great blues in this band. Tom McGuiness also in the Manfreds plays guitar along with Dave Kelly. I can really recommend seeing them if you get the chance and it won't cost an arm and a leg. Here's a link to their site. In case it doesn't work (never seems to for me) it's http://www.thebluesband.com/

I don't know if anyone is interested as it's a bit out of the way for all you Londoners but I'd like to make you aware of the 'Ludafest'. It's billed as a Blues festival in Louth in Lincolnshire.

Since the closure of the 'Blues of the month club' in Cleethorpes theres not a lot going on around here so I'd like to help promote whatever is happening.
Anyone going to Cambridge Folk Festival this year? I'm going and very much looking forward to seeing Seasick Steve. I'll be camping with friends at the Cherry Hinton campsite.
Hi Peter

i read your discussion re the ludafest.

Are you involved in organising this or other blues gigs?

My mate steve is doing a seasick steve tribute show - pigsick steve using a range of cigar box guitars, 3 string electric, bottlenrck etc. n addition to playing other acoustic blues e.g. rory gallagher

The act is going down a storm as you would imagine and he is looking to take it further afield

i can provide youtube footage of his act.

The purpose of contacting you is to ask if you woulkd please pass this message on to any links you may have who may be interested in booking him.

If so they cxan contact me for further details

regards ian

Unfortunately for you I'm not involved in organising any events - I'm far to poor and lazy!
My reason for writing about Ludafest was to get people aware of one of the lesser known events. I understand that some events are on a knife edge for financing and the more events that there are means the more chance I have of listening to some live music.
Let's hope that someone else will read this diatribe and give your friend some work. Regards from 'Pigsick Pete'
