Shhot a couple of screws through the back put the lid on and the strings willkeep it nice and snug. thanks

whether you are using the top or bottom of tin as your resonator... leave a gap between it and the neck... relief cut if necessary

this photo doesn't show what I'm talking about at all... but leave space between your soundboard (the surface the strings pass over) and neck

by leaving a space between the soundboard you mean a relief cut?

i plan to use a rectangle shaped tin, i want the top not to have screws in it. saving the picture on the front. so i should relief cut the neck underneath the top pf the lid, and screw the neck on from the back of the tin. does that sound right? beStillroy said:

My solution to fitting a neck to a square(ish) tin with no screws protruding through the top or bottom.
(in this case the rear end is attached by a screw through the tin into the end of the neck, however if I want the tail end of the neck protruding then I just duplicate the bracket arrangement at the front).
No need for any fancy frames around the inside of the tin - the neck provides good bracing.

Yes, the neck does not touch top or bottom..

no there are the 2 screws thru each end that you can see only, thats plenty..

the integrity of the lid is very important imho, I dont modify or cut the lid in any way
