Agile's are fantastic guitars and Rondo has a 2 P90 LP Special type now on their site that's very tempting.

My SX ISIS CUS24 is awesome. It has different no name pickups in it, but sounds incredibly good for a cheap guitar. The original pups weren't bad, just put in some hotter ones. Need a trem arm for it.

I've had and have several of the Rondo guitars. The Melody Maker clone is an AD-201 which was one of the ones I sold off, it was a white one.

I still have one of the SX ISIS CUS 24 just like the one you posted a picture of Paul. I got mine off of craigslist for $60. Apparently, nobody in this area knew what it was and the guy just kept lowering the price until I just couldn't pass it by any longer. Right now it's pupless, I have some AlNico 5 Humbuckers for it but haven't gotten around to installing them. I got cream pickup rings and have swapped out the hardware to chrome except for the tuners which are black Sperzel locking tuners (I had no other git to put them on). The only place I could find a bridge like that in chrome was Grizzly Industrial and they don't carry them any more.

I also still have an Agile 3125 that I got from Rondo as a "B" stock for $425 with a hard shell case. The flaw was nothing more than the the shadow of a knot on the back, another 1/16 of an inch in thickness planning and it wouldn't have been there, and you of coarse can't see it from the front. It's just like this:

http://www.rondomusic.com/al3125hsbf.html

Other than the knot shadow, it is perfect, I have done no mods on it and have no planes to do so. Mine is about 7.25 lbs. If it only had P90's ;P
As for the Special's, it depe…tag:www.cigarboxnation.com,2017-07-16:2592684:Comment:29048422017-07-16T21:33:51.607ZPaul Craighttps://www.cigarboxnation.com/profile/PaulCraig

As for the Special's, it depends on the year. Earlier ones were Plywood, then came the Poplar and the latest version is multi-piece Sapele. Always wanted one of the Poplar or Sapele with the P90's. Wish they would bring back the DC LP Special. Since the switch isn't in the upper bout, I was going to get one and mod it to a DC LP. Haha

Mine was labled an SX, that has changed to Hadean now, but a great guitar. Thought about getting another and putting P90's in it if I get the funds.

My bet would be that they're the same as all the other Epiphone cheapie Special-line Les Paul's. Same everything except new colors, the Melody Maker-style pickguard, and even cheaper pickups... Without Grover's, this is just an even cheaper version of the double humbucker / P-90 Specials, unless they use plywood for those, and these are going to be poplar wood.

I have the earlier Agile-branded version of this, same company, with a dogear p-90 in the bridge position and a more Melody Maker pickguard. Fantastic guitar for the $. I think mine is still setup like a Lowebow - early on, I thought that was a great original idea. 10 seconds on Google sez "no"... And then I found this place!

One more post on the cheapo Epiphone SLs. Wonder what kind of truss rod they have. Not all rods are created equal. Some of the really cheap ones are all but useless. The only real working part would be the screws holding the truss rod cover down. Buy one only if you can play it first.

I would have to get a sheet of pickguard material though. The White is just too much. Need some Tort, Black and maybe some Blue, Black, Red or regular Pearl.

Have to agree with you Cause, they definitely look like the old Japanese guitars.

Pawn shops, thrift stores, ebay and craigslist.
