I am thinking of starting a group here on the Nation and would like to see what people think.
It would be called something like "The Great Cigar Box Nation Riff/Song Book".
A place where you can show us your favourate riff or song etc
A data base of songs, riffs.
i have posted some stuff to a great response so i think it would be a good thing.
Somewhere for people to go after they build there cbg.
The more people keep playing the more people will be inspired and the more the community will grow.
I would put songs into genres. Blues, punk, folk etc List songs alphabetically etc
3 string, 4 string. one string whatever
Maybe a section for turn arounds.
eg under Jumpin' Jack flash there may be 10 versions. a 3 string, 4 string, send in tabs etc
Show us how you do it. Different tunings etc
It will be a great place to send people who are just starting off.
Here is a couple of eg from my page
Find stuff on the web and throw it up there.
It's going to be GREAT!!!
Thanks for reading
Here's one for the more adventurous amongst us, Amazing Grace
Great idea Nigel, you are us gonnabees saviour ! leading lost souls out of the 'desert'.
sounds like a winner to me :)
I like it and now I'm in to follow along with the class.
Thanks JUJU,Pat,Troy, Ross etc hope it happens. will be fun to see how it goes.
Graham - hopefully i won't be the only one leading you out of the desert HA Ha
It is a great idea, here's another one I Shot the Sheriff
Don't think this thing will get off the ground here and it will be hard to catalogue everything so Pat Curley has come to the rescue.
Not much content yet but it's going to be great!!!
U can't post em' in the "How To Play Cigar Box Guitar" group? I thought that's what it was intended for? What about the "CBG Tabs" group? there's 394 members & hardly any activity there?
I guess we could try to post them there as well but discussion groups are for discussions and aren't meant for cataloguing a large amount of information. There's the search function but that only works if you know what you're looking for.
The thing with this new site is that it's purpose built for sharing, requesting and particularly finding video lessons and other resources. I'm not sure how to do that in a discussion group.
