Hi

I am thinking of starting a group here on the Nation and would like to see what people think.

It would be called something like "The Great Cigar Box Nation Riff/Song Book".

A place where you can show us your favourate riff or song etc

A data base of songs, riffs.

i have posted some stuff to a great response so i think it would be a good thing.

Somewhere for people to go after they build there cbg.

The more people keep playing the more people will be inspired and the more the community will grow.

I would put songs into genres. Blues, punk, folk etc List songs alphabetically etc

3 string, 4 string. one string whatever

Maybe a section for turn arounds.

eg under Jumpin' Jack flash there may be 10 versions. a 3 string, 4 string, send in tabs etc

Show us how you do it. Different tunings etc

It will be a great place to send people who are just starting off.

Here is a couple of eg from my page

http://www.cigarboxnation.com/video/how-to-play-cigar-box-guitar-riff

http://www.cigarboxnation.com/video/how-to-play-satisfaction-on-a-3...

http://www.cigarboxnation.com/video/how-to-play-jumpin-jack-flash-3...

Find stuff on the web and throw it up there.

It's going to be GREAT!!!

Thanks for reading

Cheers

Nigel

Sounds good to me Nigel.

I'm not really a player, but would like to be.....I've learnt a few basic riffs from watching a few players on the "Nation", but would welcome a whole lot more!

Hi Nigel

Great idea, how about Roadhouse Blues

Yep great idea Nigel. I'd be in it for sure... like triplestrings my playing is limited and why reinvent the wheel transcribing for figuring stuff out when we you have some great easily recognisable standards. One of my problems is that it's very hard to sell one's creations if you can't play them that well.

Even a grouping of say 10 standards that are easy to learn would make it so much easier for us basically non players to A: get started and B: have something in our kit to show the punters.

The biggest shock that people get when they hear my builds is the grunty sound that comes from the little beastie. So stuff like ZZ top, Satisfaction, AC/DC - its a long way to the shop ( if you want a sausage roll), Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana, Walk This Way - Aerosmith, Cream - Sunshine of your Love, Money for Nothing - Dire Straits, Steppinwoolf - Magic Carpet ride, I Love Rock 'n' Roll by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, “Whole Lotta Love” (Led Zeppelin, 1969).

Yes it's all about keeping it simple.

Something easy for a beginner to practice.

Roadhouse is awesome Pat. It would be great to have you contributing.

Yes Penny send in requests and it will be somewhere to send punters to kick them off.

Thanks Nigel, Roadhouse may be a bit much for a beginner, Twist and Shout is an easy one though.
