We are organizing a CBG workshop held one Saturday a month at the 61 roadhouse & kitchen in Webster Groves MO. (St. Louis Area).  This is also the home to the St. Louis CBG festival each year.

Bill Kunz of 61 has been generous in offering us a place to meet, practice, discussed ideas and what ever members decide to do with the time. Gary Herget and myself are contacts for this club and are open to ideas to make this a fun club. As soon as we have commitment from members, we can set up a Saturday each month to meet mornings. We haven't set a day or start time as of yet. We need to know who can commit at least to a start up and discuss as a group when and how we want to run this. Possibilities are great!

Put my name on the list cuz I just found out my vacation request was accepted. Really looking forward to this.

I'll be there too.

Had a blast at our first CBG road trip. Didn't come home with anything from the antique stores. But did stop in at a music store and came home with two used Duncan JB's for strats. All in all a good day!

Silver forks & spoons to copper lids we searched in the antique mall for what we wanted and convinced ourselves we needed. Afterward we drove down to the roadhouse for free lunch. Everybody got to order anything they wanted and it was good!

""Got to order anything they wanted "? well ,..... had i known that . i woulda came  ;-)

I bet you would have pick! We would pulled out a chair for ya and told the chef to pull out all stops! The crew went a little conservative i thought for what was on the menu.

Rat ordered catfish plate, There were at least two roadhouse burgers, order of 1 1/2 pound smoked chicken wings (friggin awseome) I ordered something new on the menu (roadhouse blackened chicken tacos) sides were Cream Corn Souffle & Fried Okra. Drinks on the house, or I should say clubs credit card.

Background History of St. Louis Cigar Box Guitar Festival Late in the year 2012 two guys met together from a site called Cigar Box Nation with a single idea of bringing a festival to St. Louis. Gary Herget and Steven Miles began building a unique collaborative relationship. They met at Blues City Deli and shared their guitar builds and sat down to draft up a plan. Several months and interviews later, they met Bill Kunz of the Hwy 61 Road House restaurant. Bill was the right guy for many reasons, his love for the music industry and knowledge of its history along with a place that’s decorated in the history and serves up St. Louis best selection of food & beverages. Bill immediate fit in with open minded collaboration. When I use the word collaboration I’m driving a key point that keeps a long time project working. Our core value has remained steady from day one. The Hwy61 Road House CBG Festival has supported the builders and local musicians from day one. Hwy61 gives back to its community in many ways through matching fundraising for nonprofits and has opened its doors free of charge to the CBG culture every 3rd Saturday of each month. We have kept out vendor’s fee as low as possible to make it affordable to all, but it gets even better. Gary and I being in charge of vendors have used the money collected to fund club activities which extend to helping fund raising and special club events. Bottom line is this; we knew it had to be about the community and not us. Our plan has been to give all of you a platform to enjoy what we love so much doing in our spare time. The Christmas parties, the offsite field trips and free lunches. All of you handmade root instrument builders and enthusiasts are at the heart of this special event. We give a deep felt “Thank You!” to Bill Kunz and family for making this possible and for being the best host anyone could ask for.

Song Writers Contest 2020
Jan 18, 2020 St. Louis Cigar Box Guitar Club hwy61roadhouse
Three judges will review and listen to contestants play their original material. There will be a 1st and 2nd place prize for this event. It should be interesting as it is fun. Have no fear, step up to the mic and come prepared to January's club meeting 2020.
I will put together awards and prizes, however; any builders are welcome to sweeten the pot.
Gary and I are stepping down this event as judges. I have one qualified judge on the roster already but need two more please.

:-o .. sounds like fun ..

We now have all three judges assigned. You've got 2 months to prepare. We are allowing for vocal duet as a single entry only. So as long as it's you playing the guitar and you wrote it, you may have a partner sing it. No more than 2 on stage, this is not for bands this time. We will try and keep this very simple but at the same time have a few guild lines.

Totally Awesome! Be cool to hear everyone's songs. Not entering but will contribute to the prize pool.
