Given that the original P-bass pick up itself was a split from the original single coil, I'd say so.

You get the ones with solid covers you can't tell that your strings don't exactly line up with the pole pieces. I just got some Fender Mustang Bass pickups, perfect size for 3 strings but kinda expensive.
