Yeah, MM is right. I put a sound hole on the bottom back edge one time ... I was never able to finish a song because the last few notes kept falling out!

Sounds cool - look online for boat vents - they may be what you're looking for - not sure about sizing though.  If your scoop idea works, maybe consider NACA scoops for the next one....

Sounds like a good idea. I would just worry about it in a structural sense weakening that area. Pep boys sells ports for fenders u might be able to work them in to add strength.
