I've got a large table and 6 chairs but it seems no one wants it.

chairs I probably can sell. so I was thinking maybe I could make a bit of money by using the table for solid guitar bodies.it look to be made out of mahogany but not sure as it look very light in colour more of a tan.its about 1" thick. I know its shame to cut up a good table but I will not give it away for someone else to sell on. the whole lot cost us about £800 ..$1153! I've considered a local charity shop but it seems that they've all got their fingers dirty..top boss on a £140,000 a year summit not right.

so what ya recon? should I or not.

I swear this is the only place you can go one the net for this. People actually asking weather or not to turn their furniture into guitars. AWESOME! Rock on!

Go for it. Doesn't matter what it's made of. As long as the end product looks and sounds good. Use every bit of it you can. Even the bent chair backs. Cut em down a bit. Slap some thin ply on the top and bottom. Instant curved dulcimer. Keep the cool green color. Added bonus!

Great reply rat

If you sold it for  £400 ($600) that would buy a LOT more hardwood for future builds.

In the 17th century, Kikaku, 1 of the 10 disciples of the great Japanese poet Basho, composed a haiku: Take a pair of wings From a dragonfly, you would Make a pepper-pod.

Basho told Kikaku: "That's not a haiku. You kill the dragonfly." Kikaku recomposed the lines: Add a pair of wings To a pepper-pod, you would Make a dragonfly.

These 2 guitars were made from chair seats.

They are Malaysian Rubberwood that is similar to oak. The seat pans were only 1 inch thick, which was okay for the red one, but the Purple one has a 1/4" Red Oak plywood cap on the top and bottom for the extra needed material it took to route for pickups. You could stack and glue pieces together to make up the need thickness too.

The table would be fine for guitar bodies providing it's real wood. Some table tops are made of plywood, pressed sawdust, particle board or mystery meat wood products with a thin sheet of wood top and bottom caps or veneers.

Go for it. BTW The Red guitar was my first build and happens to sound better than my professional made Basswood bodied partscaster Strat.

Thanks Way, a lot of work there even though I bought the necks from guitarfetish.com.

I bought 3 necks from their "Factory Buyout" page. 1 required very little work, 1 required medium work and the other required a lot of work. I believe their factory buyout stuff is from their own factory and returns. A lot of people have had bad luck with their wood products, probably 50% as of lately.

Their hardware, pickups and electronics have been great so far.

manage to give to the right folks. the local hospital charity .

all proceeds go to there to help/care for cancer patients in their final days.

please it gone to good use. thanks guys..

Cool!

Don't cut it up! Turn it into a huge table top harp thang!

Hahahaha
