I need advice on setting the string height. I have built a couple of fretless CBG and havent worried much wit the string height. Just finished my first fretted neck and I am not sure how to set up the action. Want to be able to finger and slide.

String height with a fretted neck will need to be much lower and more precise than a fretless, most builders have the strings about a penny coin's thickness at the nut and just clear (3mm) of the pickup when fretted, test the sound of each note at each fret first with the slide and then finger fretted, they should both sound the same note, take care not to have the strings too low or they will rattle, test it by fingering each string at each fret from the nut down and make sure the string rings freely at each fret..

Bridge height will depend on the height of the fingerboard and build but i usually have it at about 5mm.

sounds tricky but very nice when it is right! (-:

Thanks Slowpaw , sounds like good advice.
I going to give it a shot.
