Many ways to seal a lid on a CBG

Myself I have glued 1x2 to the underside of the box the used screws to attach from the underside in case pickup goes bad inside. I know you can also glue the lid onto supports inside the box then if need be cut away where the lid is removed.

Any other options if one needs to open?

I've got one held closed by magnets.  : )

Hi Brent, the best way for sound reproduction is to glue the top to the sides, and get creative in placing a pickup and controls inside.

Maybe try building the CBG with the lid on the bottom — then you’d have a nice access door for the inside and a nice tone for the top.  I’m going to build mine this way.  I kind of like the way the bottom of the box looks anyway.

I use hinges.

Anyone use hot hide glue?
Seems like a good compromise between getting a good tone and being able to easily undo it.

Hi, yes I do. I mentioned this earlier as solution to reopening an instrument, as we do with violins etc. Must have been a different thread/post.

I use the bottom of the box for my top and screw the panel on to have access to the electronics. You can use rubber strip seals to make the box sealed or just use 4 screws(1 on each corner) and allow the panel to vibrate for a echo effect.
