Check out this beauty from the North of Argentina
It is made out of a gourd. Invented and created entirely by Elpidio Herrera, tuned into "diablo" tuning" A D A F C, some people like them B E B G D. The most amazing thing about it is those two holes over the bridge. They house a small bow that plays the first string like a violin. Beautiful instrument.

Interesting. So you're saying this tiny bow that oscillates the 1st string and is that black cable a pickup or the power source for the bow?

The bow plays the first string like a fiddle. The rest of the chords are played like a regular guitar.
The box version looks electrified.
