Hey Everybody,

I bought a lot of boxes from an estate sale and found these babies are really old. I'm building cigar box guitars and have been experimenting with pricing but I'd like to know what you all think about this. I believe that most if not all are from about 1909 and the proof I am showing you is inside this one box in particular. Someone lined this one box with postage stamps that actually have the post office ink stamp showing the month and year. I also found on other boxes the cigar box tax stamp that shows the same year. So here goes. My question is, "What do you think these boxes are worth?  Particularly after I've made them into 3 string guitars or a custom model made to order. Any knowledge or even speculation would be greatly appreciated. The one shown as you can see is on it's way to being a 3 stringer. Thanks Everyone!

As far as dating them goes, try this link:

Or take 'em to an estate auctioneer, and ask him to price them for you. My guess is, as soon as you turn one into a git, it will become worthless to a box collector / aficionado. But that doesn't mean you can't tout their age to a CBG collector; you might bump your price up by 10-25%.
