I bought a kill switch from radio shack (part 275-1566) it's a push button switch. I can't seem to find out how to wire the switch to jack? It's really hard to read what's written on the kill switch even with reading glasses...hah! I have a simple piezo disk and jack and would really appreciate if someone could tell me how to wire what connection wire to what. Can't find anything on Cbn or Internet other than other diagrams for more complicated scenarios. Thank you-Jon

Well I'm tipping the switch doesn't latch, it's a momentary connection?
You really want a multimeter so you can figure out how it works. I would use the switch to short the hot to ground...
I just know how to wire a simple piezo and a jack at this point. I'm not sure how to operate a multimeter ..I'm basically wanting to hook the 2 terminals of the momentary switch to use as a stutter effect. If it is too radical of an idea or too dangerous I'll just use it as a decoration button. Basically I drilled an extra hole on the wrong side of my cbg and wanted to fill the hole with a possible functioning decorative button. It fits in the hole and looks cool.. I just have no idea how to actually hook it up. I don't see any diagrams on any sites for what I thought was a fairly simple button. I'm outta cash for anything else at this time so I guess it will be a sort of a Star Trek prop button that doesn't actually work.

here's my question. does the momentary switch get connected to the jack or piezo disc? or both?. there's no + or - identification on the push button I can see?

I would just add a fake switch in that hole and label it
"Suck Eliminator"

:-)

Gosh, if this is my first post I wish it was more informative but I do remember having to rethink things
when I drilled, cut or did other not reversible stuff.
(just trying to add levity)

Thank you very much!!! I will try both ways.
Lets see I got (red and black wires) red is + ..black -

I usually wire red from ceramic to (left side of jack..with largest metal piece facing me on top)
I wire black from outer part of piezo to right side of jack (ground) This is my basic piezo pick up

Now For this additional momentary button I will wire

1. Red wire from one terminal of button to ceramic part of piezo.

2. A second Red wire from second terminal of button to (left side of jack)

3. A black wire from brass part of piezo to (right side of jack)

Does this sound correct? Am I even close?
Sorry I'm really good at the basic piezo wiring but this is a bit confusing...
After this and as soon as I can I will buy a multimeter...
One (terminal) of the momentary switch has these letters SC1 and some Kind
of symbol ..not sure what it is... The other terminal has this info below the terminal reads AC. 1 A250 volt and 3A 125 volt

i suspect your switch will be a simple make or break switch as the other guys have said just break pos lead and connect to either terminal, just interrupting the circuit.1 thing tho, that switch if it doesn,t detent when pressed may work opposite to what you want,ie,you have to press it to make circuit and when you release it breaks circuit, test b4 you finish soldering

I made this diagram. There's 4 of them so far...I'm thinking number 1. ..hope you can see my drawing.

Yeah I'll be using my wooden clothes pins and hope for the best...

i replied to your comment on the wiring and electronics page, but i guess this is the spot.

diagram 2 is correct, it's the same as wiring across the jack.

layouts 3 and 4 don't do anything at all.

you've drawn no volume pot, perhaps you could wire one of those up and pop it in the empty hole?

There another reply...regarding diagram.. I won't be able to get a volume pot for a few weeks... These replies do help greatly !!
