Anybody know where I can obtain some large cigar boxes? All I seem to be able to get are around 9" x 6" x 2". I'm looking for something a bit larger, say around 18" long x 9" wide but they seem to elude me.

When I search the net about CBG's I see all these guys with nice big boxes in the pictures, where are they getting them from?

When i need a large box for a build i use old silverware boxes...the standard size is about 17 x 12 x 4

An 18 inch box is pretty big. The biggest ones I seem to find are in the 11-12 inch range. I kind of doubt you will find many cigar boxes that big. Like Randy says, you may have to look for a different type of box, or look for a mill that sells unfinished boxes.

you could try looking for the two bottle wine boxes there pretty large - or you could always make your own box

They don't have nice big box's they are small guitar players.

It is all about perspective, isn't it?

I'm not certain, but I think larger wood cigar boxes are far more common in the U.S.of A. than in other countries, even Canada. Many cigars which come in paperboard boxes or in cellophane bundles are repackaged before or after they enter the U.S.

LOL! Wiseacres.

Some alternatives for larger boxes are available in my area at craft stores. Heavier large boxes are sold as painter supply boxes and such in the art dept. Last time I was at Micheals they had "craft boxes" in sizes about 12"X12"X2" that were nice Basswood sides and thin ply tops and bottoms. They "tap tested" with a nice acoustic resonance. (Better than ANY cigar box I have yet seen, and I have "tapped" my share! LOL!) They would probably have great potential, but are a little pricey at about $20. Still, if you cant or arent equipped to scratch build a better box........ I think these could make a great build.

I will soon be experimenting with a couple.

I picked up some 13 x 9 x 3 inch oak boxes on ebay.

Designcraft Industries was the site  Vey nice fit and sanded, but not a cigar box though.

Just look at this guy where did he get that box ???

That was custom made for Keni Lee Burgess.

I think Keni Lee said that is a modified jam jar box cut down to be thinner.  I say jam box because it sounds better than jelly or marmalade.
