Anybody know where I can obtain some large cigar boxes? All I seem to be able to get are around 9" x 6" x 2". I'm looking for something a bit larger, say around 18" long x 9" wide but they seem to elude me.
When I search the net about CBG's I see all these guys with nice big boxes in the pictures, where are they getting them from?

I kind of doubt you will find many cigar boxes that big. Like Randy says, you may have to look for a different type of box, or look for a mill that sells unfinished boxes.

They don't have nice big box's they are small guitar players.
Permalink Reply by Clock The Wolf on April 28, 2012 at 5:13pm I'm not certain, but I think larger wood cigar boxes are far more common in the U.S.of A. than in other countries, even Canada. Many cigars which come in paperboard boxes or in cellophane bundles are repackaged before or after they enter the U.S.

Some alternatives for larger boxes are available in my area at craft stores. Heavier large boxes are sold as painter supply boxes and such in the art dept. Last time I was at Micheals they had "craft boxes" in sizes about 12"X12"X2" that were nice Basswood sides and thin ply tops and bottoms. They "tap tested" with a nice acoustic resonance. (Better than ANY cigar box I have yet seen, and I have "tapped" my share! LOL!) They would probably have great potential, but are a little pricey at about $20. Still, if you cant or arent equipped to scratch build a better box........ I think these could make a great build.
I will soon be experimenting with a couple.
I picked up some 13 x 9 x 3 inch oak boxes on ebay.
Designcraft Industries was the site Vey nice fit and sanded, but not a cigar box though.

Permalink Reply by ED (Bad Finger) on April 29, 2012 at 7:21am I think Keni Lee said that is a modified jam jar box cut down to be thinner. I say jam box because it sounds better than jelly or marmalade.
