The hole needs to be slightly bigger. Flip it upside down, place it where you want it, trace around it with a pencil and drill the ends with a Forstner bit, wood bit or drill bit with a center point. Then cut along the line with a hand saw( power saws will cause the wood to splinter).

In your picture it is right side up,  trace the top onto the body of the git so you can cut a neat hole, then mount it from the inside so the top just pokes out.

Then you can put it up through the top and mark to drill the adjustment holes. How are you going to wire it up? Straight to jack, volume or/and tone circuit?

might ask them(chinese) to wire up a tone/volume.
