Hi, I've seen several boxes with small sound holes that look like open brass rivets.  I don't know if I'm describing them right, but they are similar to the larger dobro screened holes, but smaller and without the screens.  Does anyone know what these are and where they can be found?

tarp grommets from the hardware or sewing store. think that's what you mean. search with the little white box at the top right corner of this page for sound hole covers, you'll get lots of options and ideas and even sources if you are lucky.
Tarp Grommets! YES! Thanks Dianne. Brilliant.

If tarp grommets aren't big enough for you, try curtain grommets. I got mine at a fabric store for $1.75 each. The pair cost almost as much as the strings themselves. :-(

But look at the photos on my page and see if you want something that big.
Thanks Alan, I'll check your site. Besides a couple of large grommets can't be more than having to buy a pack of 25 tarp grommets.

Yep, the gromets on my CBG are for curtains. I looked all over our local hardware store (a first-class store, BTW, loads better than a Home Despot or Lowe's) and couldn't find anything big enough. I might use some drain hardware mext time, or cut thin sections from a PVC pipe.
Here is a whole bunch of them from Amazon.Com

Thanks

I started using sliding cabinet door pulls, They take a little grinding to remove the back( to make it a hole ) pack of 4 little ones or two big ones for about 2 bucks at Lowes. They come in nickel or black. A little window screen inside the hole looks nice too.
Thanks Dave, all help welcome, and good idea. Next time you are at Lowes, look at the 1+ inch crumb cups in plumbing too.

Thanks, Dianne in Chicago told me that, but thanks. Lowes it is!

Tinyguitars uses closet rod covers, their brass and very nice looking. Lowes carries them.
I have been adding more varieties of larger curtain grommets in my shop. Have several sizes in brass, copper and nickel, and just ordered a 1.5" nickel variety today. I also have smaller standard grommets. http://www.cbgitty.com/cubecart/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=26
