Got a bass neck that I’m going to covert to a six string with the bass neck running thru the cigar box.

heated up the bass fretboard with an iron.  Pealed it off and going to use a maple six string fretboard in its place(22-fret / 24.75”). Probably stop the fretboard at the juncture to the cigar box ( so it will end up being < 22 frets...) more as work progresses...

Bolted and gorilla wood glued ovation acoustic bridge to bottom of bass neck/cigar box:

a button piezo is attached to the underside of the bridge.

Stainless steel frets on maple fretboard:

(think l’ll try linseed oil as a Finish?)

The bass neck is a Fernandez gravity...

That turned out really nice.

Looking good, linseed oil may not be the best finish to use as it it takes a while to dry and attracts and holds dirt and dust. After all that nice work i would be using a finish that drys harder, and repels finger grime and wear.

Might try using tung oil...

When it comes to applying oils, you need to apply in many thin layers and allow enough time for each to fully dry/cure before applying another layer.

It takes a long time, but the results are often great. I use Tru-Oil on most of my builds and it is similar to Linseed Oil and Tung Oil. Tru-Oil is a little more glossy in my opinion.

Yes I like true oil for necks, I just bought a bottle yesterday. It's a bit expensive here for doing boxes so I use shellac, few coats, and build a finish with a paste wax.

Shellac always looks good.

Final coat of tung oil(4-coats) looks good!

Using the dime-quarter method to adjust string height (dime at the nut and quarter on the 12th fret).

the strings are set above the dime-quarter mark for now... fret board is flat and I haven’t added any tension to the stress rod yet...

might add some stress rod tension to arch the fret board and then lower the saddle by sanding it down.

intonation is ok except on strings that are above the quarter height
