Similar to what I said, but shouldn't the "pin" portion really not be much larger than a typical fret, or you'll stretch the strings throwing it out of tune?

Yes Richard the idea is similar, but with this idea the fret, nut or nail can not slide forward as capo titghtened. As mentioned before the height is adjusted to player preference, a fretless board, I would think would be for slide playing, so a slightly higher nut action my be preferred. It is in my case.

This is of course not a finished working model, just cobbled together in less than five minutes, with a length of brass tube I found in the scrap drawer that was the correct size-ish.

just sowing a seed is all.

Hi Richard, sorry mate , I did post two replies but I see that it is not displayed here????

What I said was that I did not take you comments as a criticism, but maybe my reply rambled on too much.

If it had been a criticism that would have been ok with me too. I also added that my wife is my harshest critic, too honest, but she keeps me on my toes.
