What do you do if you are an apartment dweller who has no tools or woodworking experience, but still wants to build a CBG? Here's a brief article under "Guitar Building" that shows my solution.

I know it! But it looks like a CBG and sounds great. :)  Rick

good idea Rick if you can get the doner guitar cheap enough.

these cost quite a bit here even if its need repairing.

you fellas across the pond are so lucky.

Good point John. As it turns out I had ordered two of them online really cheap. Well, they both came in broken so I got them both for free. In one case the head was broken right off, but between the two of them there were enough parts to build a CBG.

Rick

oh thats nice Rick rub it in

Question - if you had no tools, how did you cut the body and peghead down?

Good point. I do have a few simple hand tools - no real woodworking tools. You'll notice in the title of the article I say "almost" no tools and in the first picture I show my coping saw. I also have a screw driver that doesn't show in the picture. :)

Rick

I understood what you mean rick ..basic tools without all these fancy machines .

having these machines is cheating eh!

Where you get the guitar parts from?

I bought them from a guy on ebay. If fact they were starter packages so they included guitar, amp, extra strings, a tuner and chord chart. Well, I ordered two and they both came in damaged so he refunded my money (including shipping) and I got the whole mess for free. I gave the little amps away to a couple of friends who just got CBGs and there were enough parts lift over for me to make my own 4-string. Of course we don't want stuff to come in broken, but in this case it worked out pretty good because I was going to use one of them for parts anyhow!

Rick

That's pretty cool you got for free! Seeng they are new did they cost a big? Originally

No, they were pretty cheap originally. That's why I ordered them. I don't remember the original cost, but it wasn't much.
