Be,  Just found this.  Nice.  Gritty!

Here's my submission. An original song entitled "Hangman's Coming". Instruments used: 3 string cigar box guitar, 4 string electric bass, cajon, tambourine. Each instrument and vocal track recorded individually on a Zoom H2 then mixed in Audacity.I have got to get a multi-track recorder. Whew! Hope you guys enjoy it.

Thanks,

Alyson "NightOwl" Shelton

Thanks! Got it.

yeah, nice!!

Hi, Dan! Here is my submission, after much thought. I originally recorded "The Empty Glass" for Joker's Podcast, the theme being a favorite food or drink. That podcast never happened, and now the song bears a much deeper significance to me. It features both cbg and bamboo flute (one I did NOT build, incidentally), and is on a recently completed cd, "The Tipping Point", which was a Cracklebone project that I had scrapped after the passing of my dear mother having seen no point in going on with my creative pursuits. As it so happened, I recently rediscovered those tracks and remixed them. I guess it is a matter of not leaving something unfinished. If you choose to use this song, I would very much appreciate including a dedication in loving memory of my dear parents, Ingrid Schrader Lowman (who passed a year ago this week) and Henry Harris Lowman, Jr. (who passed on April 14, 1999).

                                                                                                   Thank You

Here's another, if you need some more music, featuring my 3 string fretless "low rock" guitar and bamboo sax.

Sorry, messed up there a bit...

Thanks Henry!!

Dan,

Here's my second submission: Rug Doctor. Dedicated to Cathy, CBN member Ellwood T. Bear's wife. It was inspired by Comments on Uncle John's "Shake Your Money Maker" vid. Ellwood got in trouble with his missus over turning her washtub into a bass, so she bought him a Rug Doctor. I took that as the title and made a double entendre blues out of it.

Recording notes:

Guitar: 4-string CBG, Wichita Sam #268, tuned G-D-G-B. Played with a copper plumbing fitting pinkie slide

Amp: Guitar recorded dry into GarageBand on my iPad using iRig. Re-amped using the Vibrato Blues amp model in GarageBand

Vocals: Recorded using the iRig mic into GarageBand on my iPad.Processed in GarageBand using the Telephone effect, with additional Large Hall reverb and slight Cathedral echo

Percussion: Rockin' the beer gut. Me slapping my big belly into the iPad's onboard mic last night on the couch!

All music, lyrics and instruments written, played and recorded by Ron "Oily" Sprague. (Copyright RAS Enterprises 2012. All rights reserved.)

Rug Doctor

When my baby say it's washday, I don't give her a hug
When my baby say it's washday, I won't give her no hug
We jist lays down on de flo', an' den I wash her rug.

Yeah I'm a Rug Doctor, honey
I kin wash away yer blues
An' when yo' rug is combed out
I kin clean yo' carpet, too.

Now if yo' pile is nappy, and tangled up in knots
Yeah, if yo' pile is nappy, all tangled up in knots
Well, I kin make you happy wif de good Rug Doctor's shots.

Cuz I'm a Rug Doctor, darlin',
I ain't here to cure de flu
But if yo' floorin's funky
I can clean yo' carpet, too.

Now some gals walks roun' barefoot, an' others like high heels
Yes, some gals walkin' barefoot, an' others wear high heels
But when I makes a house call, all their rugs come out and squeals!

Yeah, he's a Rug Doctor, chillun',
He'll treat yo' rug so fine
He'll mend yo' frayin' tapestry
Look what he done to mine!

Dan,

My final submission: an instrumental called Grandpa's Pocket Watch. Please feel free to use it if you need some filler. It's really more bluegrass than blues; the title and playing style were inspired by the old bluegrass tune, "Grandfather's Clock."

Recording notes:

Guitar: Harrison Withers' Busker, tuned Bb-F#-Bb-D. Techpick metal pick, copper pinkie slide. Built-in Artec 2.5W amp cranked all the way up, running on a 9V internal battery.

Recorded as a video file on a Samsung handheld video cam. Audio file extracted from the vid using Xenra.com, a free online conversion site. File reprocessed in Audacity, a free Windows music editor.

thought I'd send you and old one too, in case you're still short. "On The Edge" is the first track on the EP "If You're Not Listening That's OK"

 available at http://bemuzic.bandcamp.com/

 by Belinda "bemuzic" Gent

On The Edge

If you’re standing on the edge
and you feel too scared to move.
If you’re standing on the edge yeah
and you’re way too tired to move.
Sit down on the ground,
close your eyes
and let the world come to you.

I don’t know where you’re going
and I don’t know where you’ve been.
I don’t care where you’re going,
don’t wanna know where you’ve been.
The world that’s inside my head
is the only thing I see.

You and me are changing,
we’ll never be the same.
Well everything is changing,
yeah nothing stays the same.
Don’t even try to hold on
but don’t push it away.

So if you’re standing on the edge
and you feel too scared to move.
If you’re standing on the edge yeah
and you’re way too tired to move.
Sit down on the ground,
close your eyes
and let the world come to you.
