HMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmm....how about trying a pitch shifter effect, lowering the tone by an octave? Also, try hooking it up to a graphic equilizer? This is assuming you areusing a piezo in your stompbox, of course (how silly of me...LOL). If you have not done so, consider it. Then run your stomp box through an amp using the suggestions mentioned above. Or maybe I'm psychobabbling...LOL!!! Oh, yeah...WELCOME to the Nation! :-)

I've got a piezo cigar stomp box, which I run through a bass amp with the treble down and the bass up, it works out all right. It's not a bass drum, but then again it cost under five bucks!

I think that the early Motown recordings used a peach crate with a bass drum pedal.
They did OK with that & sold millions of records.
