Finishing up my second CBG and decided to add volume and tone controls. The problem is the volume only seems to work at between the 9 and 10 setting, anything less and ther is no amp sound. The tone while it seems to work is so subtle it is barely discernable? Any sites or diagrams for wireing available guys??? Im using a piaezo and the pots are a kit from from stewmac.

Piezo's are very high impedance, so the 500 K pots should be fine. Also, the .047 uF cap is the right value. What is the distance fromn the pickup magnets to the strings? THIS THREAD may be the answer to your issue. Here is the exact same wiring on a lap steel guitar I have, so it may be that there is a short or an open wire in your rig...
John thanks for the diagram and the link, there ae no magnets, no pickup, just the Piezo. I'll check for shorts and not sure what an open wire is , but will look at all the connections again.

You need a preamp man. No way around it, and the use of 2m pots is essential to keep from getting your bass notes squashed.
seymour duncans website has tons of diagrams
I only have volume control on my piezo equipped cbg. First I had a 500K pot wired the usual way (only on positive lead), but it didn't lower the volume to zero, and the tone got kind of muddy on lower settings. But then I wired a 1M ohm pot as a voltage devider and it worked out just fine.

So did you get it sorted Lucky?
Im having a similar problem with mine - I added a tone and vol to my box (mine does have a single coil), and though the tone works fine, the vol only seems to work between '1' and '2'.... nothing appears to happen between '3' and '11'. It kinda works as an on / off switch rather than a volume. I used the same wiring diagram from Seymour Duncan, its wired correctly... the only thing I havnt got is an earth to bridge, as its not metal, its wood, but cant see this would cause the problem. I see theres some discussion on pot size, but with a single coil, the cheap chinese pots I salvaged from a LP copy should be fine, no?
I just use the controls on my amp
