Permalink Reply by MBliss on April 14, 2011 at 12:43pm A bolt on is feasable, (bolted to a neck block, acoustic style. Not flat like a Fender.) I like the barrel bolt method, that combined with either a glu joint or a dovetail/mortise, or both.
Not to set a negative note, but Colin, the fretboard and frets appear to be in VERY poor condition, Depending on your expectations it may not be worth all the trouble.
Permalink Reply by colin mcgrath on April 14, 2011 at 1:16pm To be honest I have no expectations for the impending build. Other than experience on successfully assembling the guitar.
The condition of the guitar was VERY poor. It was evidently a dumpster guitar that my local git shop had for a while and just decided to sell, the tailpiece pickguard and 3 post tuner I got off it are worth the 8.50. The fact that the neck was not bowed beyond reuse was a shock to me. Besides if worst comes to worse I can always remove the fretboard and install a new one. Shoot I will even have to install a new nut. Check out this headstock pic, the low E slot is busted.
