Yes. Just set it at an angle to ensure your strings make good use of the magnetic field  above the pole pieces

cheers

its the same as gitty's as always postage is a killer but.....

I've found some skull tuners for you UK guys as well as some fret hammers very cheap, although not not for frets but ideal I think for the price..

also I've email a couple of ebay sellers if they can make pick ups for 3 and 4 strings.

theres a guy on ebay selling the same as above for 4 strings and wanting £12.

we'll see what the response is.

I've seen p bass pickups on Ebay for $5.50 (Canadian dollars) with free shipping). Not sure if same shipping cost to UK, but the bonus on these, besides being inexpensive, they are four string pickups, and there are two. You can keep them together for HUGE sound, or separate them to get two pickups...making each about $2.25. Even translated to pounds, that is still a great deal, yeah?

Great builds Jim!

Looking forward to hearing your build John! Nice looking pickup!

Speaking from experience, you gotta be careful just how cheap you go with those base pickups. I actually have a set that are two HALF pickups. There's only winding around two of the polls on each pickup.

like most things in life you take a gamble.

these flatpup pick up seem to be hard to get hold of..none in stock till end of november.

so the question is..

has any one used a 3 String Cigar Box Guitar Ukelele Bridge / Dual Piezo Pickups and if so any good?

any thing I should know about these?

If you're using steel strings and want a flat pickup, you can always try Dan Sleep's Sleeptalker pickups, or Elmar's Flatpups. If using phosphor bronze acoustic or nylon strings, then a piezo pickup is a better choice.

The dual piezo pickups are two disk type piezos (not the rod type) and are wired in parallel (positive to positive, negative to negative) and give a better sound than a single disk. The disks are either sandwiched between two thin slats of wood, or installed on the underside of a single slat of wood. One difference from the rod type piezos is the disk piezo saddle doesn't have to rest directly on top of the element.

One challenge in using these bridges is making sure of your bridge placement AFTER dialing in your intonation, so that the wires can be inserted into a small hole thru the top of the body, and therefore hiding the wires for aesthetic purposes. The wires typically exit the bottom of the bridge, so determining the bridge location will enable you to hide the wires.

If you're using steel strings and want a flat pickup, you can always try Dan Sleep's Sleeptalker pickups, or Elmar's Flatpups. If using phosphor bronze acoustic or nylon strings, then a piezo pickup is a better choice.

I've tried both but again no production till end of november and I need one well before then as I'm making a 3 stinger for my son's axmas pressent. using the olive would that I have bought.

as for strings?

its going to be an electric guitar so I suppose it'll be steel strings.

to be honest I don't know the different between them other than one set for electric and the other acoustic but none nylon strings. but what different between them both??

do the give different sounds?

If you are referring to string sound comparison, all three are different. Both steel and bronze phosphor have si ilar character, with subtle differences. Both will work with magnetic  pickups, but not equal. Nylon, of course, can only be used with piezo pickups. But nylon's main difference is sustain...the duration of time that the string vibrates. Plus, nylon strings have a more mellow tone overall. And when first installing nylon, thet take a long time to fully settle in. So re-tuning is constant until they hold tune.
