2011 Cigar Box Guitar Builders Challenge

We are pleased to announce the 2011 Cigar Box Guitar Builders Challenge!

The contest begins immediately. The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2011. A winner will be announced the first part of January, 2012.

Unlike previous contests, there is no theme this time. It is simply Cigar Box Guitars. Note that any stringed instrument will qualify as a "guitar", so you can make a uke, dulcimer, lap steel, bass, whatever stringed instrument suits your fancy.

We will have some great prizes too, more to follow...

Contest Rules:

Each submission shall be an instrument of the builder's own construction and overall design.

The instrument shall prominently and visibly feature a cigar box in the design.

Each builder will submit up to five pictures of their creation.

Entries must be submitted no later than December 31, 2011.

Builders will post the pictures of their instruments in the "Contest Submission Thread."

Builders should include descriptions of their work, including any technical details such as features, materials used, or any other information they feel would assist the judges in reviewing the submission.

A panel of judges will review the pictures and select a winner.

The decision of the judges is final.

I have not built a CBG for a number of years and I will give it a go. I signed up for this before but cannot find my post? I'm in the UK I hope thats ok count me in if so.. good luck everyone.

Okay...it seems that trying to submit an entry into this this has become a challenge also.....I went to the request thread seemingly thinking that I was uploading my entry and all I get is the reply and an upload for 3 pic,,,which did not display as others have done...what am I missing here...but clearly this contest is not very user friendly...Or then again may I am just missing something simple...Any Ideas????

As to the How does it sound issue...I agree things should be heard as well as seen...but ELECTRONIC VOODOO can cloud the mighty magic mojo vission...

The way Ning does picture posting is a pain. The easiest way to do it is click on the Image button, choose From My Computer and upload the picture directly from your computer. When you do that, the picture shows up instead of just a link you have to click on. You can then delete the links to the pictures you already posted.

Try that.

Just saw this today. Since I'm in the middle of my Christmas gift build-a-thon I may as well toss my name in as interested. Since I've got to have them done and shipped cross country before Christmas I should have no problem getting a few photos of my favorite by the 31st :)

I'm in! Hooked up the insides today, got some work to go yet, but it's coming together. This'll be the first instrument i will have ever made so fingers crossed it all comes together!
